Why an Athlete Doubles as the Best Motivational Speaker

A pro athlete makes an impactful motivational speaker. Several factors go into making an experienced athlete bringing medals home, an inspirational public speaker. Like the shining medals athletes get, their success will also shine to inspire people dreaming big. Athletes are your way out, whether you need a motivational speaker for an educational event, a ted talk, or an experts’ discussion.

As Ghana’s first Skeleton Olympian, I, Akwasi Frimpong, became an outstanding public speaker inspiring thousands of people. Here are some of the major reasons why athletes make great event hosts or public speakers for motivation and inspiration:

1.  Athletes are pro at Goal-Setting:

Success requires setting the right set of achievable long-term and short-term goals. Who knows the art of goal-setting better than an athlete? Athletes have years of experience in setting goals and achieving them. This experience serves as a gateway to success. The insights athletes offer for motivation on aims and objectives are valuable because they are not coming from a man next door but from someone who has brought trophies home.

2. They have Expertise in Time Management Skills:

Nobody knows time management better than an athlete whose achievements depend on time management. If an athlete takes even a second longer than others to reach the finish line in a race, their medal is gone. Thus, athletes are a master of the art of time management. Every second matters for them, and Olympics athletes know this art even better. Time management helps people from all walks of life, be it a doctor, an engineer, or a lawyer. All of them can take inspiration from an athlete.

3. They are Masters in Dodging Obstacles:

Whatever your circumstances are, hurdles are an integral part of daily life. Some face more hardships than others, and hardships are a must-have segment of an athlete’s life. They take a long route to achieve success full of difficulties and sufferings. They know it all—from bleeding toes and scarred hands because of practice to broken hearts because of losing a game or getting rejected. They know how to handle the stress and depression that comes from failures and can become your motivation to overcome whatever adversity or misfortune you face.

4.  They Know Teamwork:

Since athletes mostly play sports in teams, they are very well aware of how much dedication and patience it takes to work in a team. In addition to it, they are very well aware of what it takes to be a part of a professional team. Their experience of teamwork can help you excel in teamwork and serve as a light of guidance for your future.
