It’s not uncommon for underdogs to quit despite not being forced out by injury. Though they start out with a seemingly unwavering passion for the sport, often, motivation for athletes dies down.
Why does this happen?
Unfortunately, aspiring athletes throw in the towel after facing setbacks after setbacks. We agree that it’s not easy to make it big in sports. There are a lot of challenges that wear down even the most resilient individuals.
That’s why in this blog post, I’m aiming to provide motivation for athletes who are thinking of quitting.
Don’t Give Up on Your Dreams
One of the biggest reasons for not quitting is that you still have to follow your dreams. If you feel like giving up, take some time out and reflect on why you started this journey. Remember your love for the sport and the exhilaration you felt in achieving your goals. You and your dreams are worth the effort.
Reminding yourself of your goals is a great motivation for athletes to keep going.
You’re Almost There
Though it might be difficult right now, it’s important to take out the time to reflect on the past. You have made it this far with nothing but your hard work and resilience. It wasn’t easy, but you persevered through the hardships and thrived even in the most difficult environments. For this, you deserve a pat on the back.
You’ve already proved that when the going gets tough, you can be tougher. You’ve achieved so much, and now you’re past the point of return. It means that you should always move forward in life because it’s easier to go all the way rather than to go back.
I spent a lot of time chasing my goals. Whenever I felt close to my goal, I was two steps behind again. Through it all, I kept reminding myself that I’m almost there, and it stopped me from giving up.
Success Feels Great
Though quitting might seem like an easier option now, it won’t give you any satisfaction. Chances are you might come to regret your decision later on. Trust me when I say that living with ‘what ifs’ is not a life you’d want. It was what pushed me to continue whenever I came across challenges.
Sooner or later, you will succeed through hard work and perseverance. I want you to visualize that victory right now. Imagining your dreams coming true is a great motivation for athletes who are on the brink of quitting.
If you’re looking for motivation to not quit, I can help you out!
