At Hope Of A Billion (HOAB), we believe that hope is not just a sentiment but a catalyst for change—a billion possibilities waiting to be realized. Our mission is to encourage, engage, and empower young individuals in underserved communities worldwide through sports, education, and entrepreneurial opportunities. By fostering resilience and igniting passion, my wife and I aim to equip the next generation to create a more equitable and sustainable future.
Akwasi Frimpong’s Inspiring Journey
Our foundation’s vision is deeply rooted in my personal journey. Born in Ghana, I faced numerous challenges, including limited access to resources and opportunities. Despite these obstacles, I harbored a dream of becoming an Olympian. With unwavering determination and the support from my wife, Erica, I became Ghana’s first skeleton Olympian in 2018 and the first Black male athlete in the world to compete in skeleton at the Winter Olympics. My story exemplifies the transformative power of resilience and serves as a beacon of hope for countless young individuals.
Empowering Through Sports
Sports have the unique ability to teach discipline, teamwork, and perseverance. At HOAB, we introduce children to various athletic activities, including the sport of skeleton. By constructing accessible training facilities and organizing workshops, we provide platforms for children to explore new sports, fostering physical health and self-confidence. To date, I have shared my story with over 600 young people, challenging them to believe in themselves and never give up.
Educational and Entrepreneurial Initiatives
Education is a cornerstone of personal and community development. We design community-specific programs that address the unique needs of each area we serve. These programs focus on providing quality education and fostering entrepreneurial skills, enabling young individuals to pursue their passions and contribute meaningfully to their communities. By sharing inspiring narratives of local heroes who have transformed their lives against all odds, we show children that dreams are attainable with hard work and perseverance.
Engaging the Community
We recognize that empowering future leaders requires a collective effort. Adults play a pivotal role in guiding young minds by providing support and creating opportunities for them to flourish. Through initiatives like motivational speaking engagements and educational workshops, we offer adults the chance to inspire children to pursue their aspirations, foster resilience, and open doors to new experiences. By facilitating interactions between children and local heroes, we plant seeds of hope and motivation, allowing children to visualize their own paths to success.

Our long-term goal is to impact a billion lives by creating sustainable programs that empower young individuals to break cycles of poverty and achieve their dreams. We are committed to expanding our reach, developing more community centers, and collaborating with partners who share our vision. By fostering resilience, igniting passion, and equipping the next generation with the necessary tools, we strive to create a more equitable and sustainable future for all.
