When people hear my name, they often think of me flying headfirst down an icy track at 80 miles per hour. As Ghana’s first skeleton Olympian, that moment of history was unforgettable. But after years of training, competition, and personal growth, I’ve learned something powerful: the athlete mindset isn’t limited to the sports world. It’s just as relevant (and valuable) on the entrepreneurial journey.

Here’s what you need to know.

Discipline Is a Daily Habit

As a skeleton athlete, discipline isn’t something I turn on and off. It’s built into every part of my day: what I eat, and how I train when I rest. That structure became second nature. Now, as I pursue entrepreneurial ventures, I see how that same discipline fuels progress. Whether I’m pitching ideas or building a team, consistency is key. In sports, showing up every day gets you closer to the podium. In business, it gets you closer to the next breakthrough.

Resilience Becomes Strategy

Not every race ends with a medal. I’ve crashed. I’ve lost. I’ve faced setbacks that tested my spirit. But the athlete mindset taught me how to bounce back, adapt, and push forward. That resilience translates directly into entrepreneurship. Startups fail. Ideas get rejected. Markets shift. But like a skeleton run, success comes to those who don’t flinch under pressure. I’ve learned to approach challenges as opportunities—to adjust the line, lean in harder, and ride it out with purpose.

Focus Sharpens Innovation

On the ice track, there’s no room for distraction. One small mistake can mean the difference between a personal best and a brutal wipeout. That level of focus taught me how to isolate what matters and stay locked in. As an entrepreneur, that skill has helped me see opportunities others overlook. Focus turns ideas into solutions. It’s not just about working hard; it’s about working smart, staying creative, and building with intent.

Give underserved children a platform with Hope Of A Billion

Being Ghana’s first skeleton Olympian gave me a platform, but it didn’t define my future. Athletes have an edge because we’ve already mastered pressure, routine, and the long game. Business isn’t so different. It’s a new track, with new curves, but the same fire inside. The skeleton athlete in me thrives here too.

Beyond the business world, my passion extends to empowering the next generation. That’s why I founded Hope Of A Billion, an initiative dedicated to providing opportunities for underserved kids across the globe, a cause that even got a shout-out on the Olympics’ official Instagram page!

I truly believe that by cultivating an athlete mindset, we can all achieve greatness, whether in sports, business, or giving back to our communities.
