I have learned something through my journey from childhood challenges to becoming an Olympic athlete and entrepreneur: the potential to succeed often begins within us. My grandmother taught me to believe in myself, work hard, and never give up. That lesson continues to shape my life and everything we do through Hope Of A Billion (HOAB)’s programs.
Believe in the Potential You Already Have
Growing up, I faced challenges that could have easily convinced me to give up on my dreams. But my grandmother, Minka, believed in me. She reminded me that everything I needed for success was already inside me. I carried those words through every difficult moment, including my journey to becoming Ghana’s first-ever skeleton Olympian.
My Olympic journey taught me that success is not reserved for people who have the easiest beginnings or the most resources. It starts with recognizing your own potential and having the courage to pursue something bigger than your circumstances. I believe every child deserves to hear that message. Their background should never determine how far they can dream or what they believe they can accomplish.
Turning Belief Into Action Through HOAB
My wife, Erica, and I founded Hope Of A Billion because we wanted children in underserved communities around the world to experience the same encouragement and opportunities that helped shape my life. Believing in yourself is powerful, but belief becomes even stronger when someone gives you the tools and support to act on it.
That is the foundation of our HOAB programs. From the first workshop, we encourage children to discover their strengths, build confidence, and understand that setbacks do not define them. Through sports-inspired mentorship, business education, and essential life skills, our HOAB programs help young people turn their dreams into practical goals. We want children to see themselves as capable individuals with something valuable to contribute.
Opening Doors Beyond the First Workshop
Inspiration matters, but it should not end when a workshop finishes. Children need continued guidance, meaningful opportunities, and connections that help them move toward their goals. That is why our HOAB programs extend beyond motivation to career connections and opportunities that can help young people explore their interests and imagine different futures.
Whether a child dreams of becoming an entrepreneur, an educator, an athlete, or a community leader, I want them to understand that their ambitions deserve attention. Our role is to help them recognize their abilities, connect with people who can guide them, and take their next steps with confidence. The potential is already there. Sometimes, all a child needs is someone who believes in them and an opportunity to prove what they can do.

I founded Hope Of A Billion with my wife to help children in underserved communities worldwide recognize their potential and grow into tomorrow’s leaders through our HOAB programs. As Ghana’s first-ever skeleton Olympian, I know how powerful encouragement and opportunity can be. I’m honored that the Olympics’ official Instagram page featured our work alongside icons like Billie Jean King, Carlos Alcaraz, and others. Visit the HOAB website to see how we’re helping young people turn their dreams into action.
