When people see me sprinting down the ice track as a skeleton athlete, they often think it’s all about speed. But what truly separates a good run from a great one is vision. The ability to see beyond the curve, to anticipate what’s next before it even happens.
The same is true in business and leadership. Whether I’m managing my business or preparing for competition, I’ve learned that a strategic vision for entrepreneurs isn’t a luxury. It’s a necessity.
Here’s what you need to know.
Seeing the Bigger Picture Before It’s Clear
When I first started my journey as both an athlete and entrepreneur, I made plenty of decisions in the heat of the moment: chasing quick wins, reacting to challenges, etc. But real leadership requires seeing how today’s actions shape tomorrow’s outcomes. Building a strategic vision for entrepreneurs means learning to zoom out and see patterns. It’s about asking questions like: “If I say yes to this opportunity, what am I saying no to?” and “Will this choice still make sense five years from now?”
The same mindset that helps me visualize every twist and turn of a skeleton track helps me imagine what my business might look like next season. Leaders with strong vision don’t wait for perfect clarity. They train themselves to act with purpose despite uncertainty.
Building Vision Into Daily Habits
Developing a strategic vision as an entrepreneur isn’t something you do once a year during a planning retreat. It’s a muscle you build every day. For me, that starts each morning with quiet reflection. I take time to ask myself: What direction am I moving toward? What does success look like beyond the next deadline or event?
I also make a point to learn from people outside my own field. Conversations with scientists, coaches, and business owners give me fresh perspectives. They remind me that vision isn’t about predicting the future. It’s about staying curious and open to change.
Just like I review video footage of my races to refine my technique, I review my decisions to see what worked and what didn’t. That habit strengthens my awareness and keeps my goals aligned with my long-term purpose.
Leading With Clarity and Courage
Every leader faces moments of doubt. When I’m standing at the top of the icy track, the fear is real. But the strategic vision I developed reminds me why I’m there as a skeleton athlete and an entrepreneur. I’m here to inspire, to grow, and to lead with intention.
Having vision doesn’t mean knowing every turn in advance. It means trusting that you’ve trained your mind to adapt, to stay focused, and to move forward even when the path looks uncertain. That’s how I race. That’s how I lead.

As the first Black male skeleton athlete from Africa, I’ve learned that success starts with mindset. The same strategic vision that fuels me as an entrepreneur can help you shape your path too. Through my journey as a skeleton athlete and business leader, I’ve made it my mission to help entrepreneurs cultivate the same determination and focus that drives me every day.
I also founded Hope Of A Billion to help kids from underserved communities realize their potential and become future leaders across the globe. I’m deeply honored that our work was featured on the Olympics’ official Instagram page alongside legends like Simone Biles, Usain Bolt, and Magic Johnson.
