When I first started racing skeleton, I knew I was chasing something bigger than a finish line. I was learning how to stay focused under pressure, make decisions with confidence, and keep improving after every challenge. Those same lessons have shaped my journey as an entrepreneur. Looking back, I see how closely skeleton habits and entrepreneurship connect, even though one happens on an icy track and the other in the business world.

Preparation Builds Confidence

For anyone unfamiliar with skeleton, it is a winter Olympic sport where athletes race headfirst down an icy track on a small sled. We reach incredible speeds while navigating challenging curves with subtle body movements. There is very little room for mistakes, which makes preparation essential.

As a skeleton athlete, I learned that confidence doesn’t come from hoping everything goes right. It comes from putting in the work before the moment arrives. I studied tracks, practiced my starts, strengthened my body, and worked on the smallest details. Skeleton habits and entrepreneurship share this foundation. Whether I’m preparing for a race or building a business, I need to understand my environment, anticipate challenges, and put in the work when nobody is watching. Preparation gives me something solid to rely on when uncertainty shows up.

Staying Calm When Every Second Counts

On a skeleton track, decisions happen quickly. A small adjustment can affect my entire run. I cannot afford to panic when something unexpected happens. I have to stay calm, trust my training, and respond to what the track demands.

Business often feels similar. Opportunities can disappear quickly, unexpected problems can arise, and decisions sometimes need to happen before I have every answer. I’ve learned that being an entrepreneur isn’t about having perfect control. It’s about staying composed enough to recognize what matters and make the next move. Skeleton habits and entrepreneurship remind me that pressure doesn’t have to become panic. It can become a reason to focus, adapt, and act with intention.

Treat Every Run as an Opportunity to Learn

Every skeleton run gives me information. I pay attention to what worked, where I lost time, and what I can improve next time. A disappointing result isn’t the end of the story. It is feedback I can use.

I bring that mindset into business, too. Not every decision produces the outcome I expected, but every experience can teach me something valuable. Skeleton habits and entrepreneurship both require honest reflection, flexibility, and a willingness to keep learning. I also carry this mindset into Hope Of A Billion, the foundation my wife and I created to help children in underserved communities recognize their potential and become future leaders. Progress begins when we learn, adjust, and keep moving forward.

My journey as a skeleton athlete and entrepreneur has taught me that the right mindset can help us achieve extraordinary things. Through speaking, mentoring, and sharing my experiences, I help entrepreneurs find motivation, navigate challenges, and move toward their goals.

My wife and I founded Hope Of A Billion to empower children in underserved communities around the world with the motivation, resources, and opportunities to realize their potential and become tomorrow’s leaders. I’m also honored that our work has been featured on the Olympics’ official Instagram page alongside inspiring legends and icons like Simone Biles, Usain Bolt, Magic Johnson, Billie Jean King, Carlos Alcaraz, and many others.

The connection between skeleton habits and entrepreneurship goes beyond personal achievement. It’s about creating opportunities for others to succeed, too.
