During the summer, there is more time to breathe, reflect, and spend time with family. Then September arrives, schedules fill up, and the pace changes quickly. For me, that transition creates a valuable moment for resetting goals. I look at what I planned, what actually happened, and where I want to put my energy next. I have learned that resetting goals does not mean starting over. It means getting honest about what matters and making sure my daily actions support it.
I Look at What Still Matters
When I start resetting goals, I first ask myself a simple question: Does this goal still matter to me? Life changes, and priorities can change with it. Some goals still deserve my full attention, while others no longer fit where I am going. I learned this lesson through sport. As a skeleton athlete, I have had to adjust plans, respond to setbacks, and keep moving toward the bigger picture. I use that same mindset in business and in my personal life. I would rather focus deeply on a few meaningful goals than spread myself thin trying to accomplish everything.
I Turn Big Goals Into Daily Actions
September can become busy very quickly, especially when you are balancing athletics, business, family, and service. As an entrepreneur, I know how easy it is to fill a calendar without making real progress. That is why resetting goals also means simplifying my routine. I choose the priorities that deserve my attention and break them into actions I can actually complete each day. Instead of thinking only about the finish line, I ask myself what I can do today that moves me closer.
I Make Room for Purpose
The most important part of resetting goals for me involves remembering why I am working toward them. My goals go beyond competition or business. My wife and I founded Hope Of A Billion to encourage, engage, and empower children in underserved communities around the world through sport, business, and education. That purpose keeps me grounded when life gets busy. Whether I am training as a skeleton athlete, helping an entrepreneur move forward, or working with our foundation, I want my energy to create something meaningful. September gives me the chance to pause, refocus, and keep building with intention.

I believe resetting goals is not only about building a stronger business or becoming a better skeleton athlete. It is also about helping other people see what they can become. As an entrepreneur, I motivate and guide other entrepreneurs to believe in their potential and take meaningful steps forward.
We founded Hope Of A Billion to help children across the globe. I am honored that our work at HOAB has been featured on the Olympics’ official Instagram alongside legends and icons including Simone Biles and many others.
Please visit Hope Of A Billion to see exactly how we are helping these kids. And if you believe every child deserves the chance to dream, please donate now and help us give more young people the opportunity to discover what they are capable of.
