There were many moments in my life when nobody else could see what I saw. The path ahead looked uncertain, resources were limited, and support was not always there. As a skeleton athlete, entrepreneur, and founder of Hope Of A Billion, I learned early that if I wanted to achieve something meaningful, I had to believe in myself before anyone else did. That belief became the foundation for every opportunity I created and every challenge I overcame.
Confidence Comes From Action, Not Certainty
Many people think they need confidence before they take a risk. My experience has been the opposite. I learned to build confidence by taking action, even when I felt unsure. When I started pursuing my Olympic dream, there was no guarantee that I would succeed. There was no roadmap waiting for me.
Every small step forward helped me build confidence. Training one more day, making one more phone call, and solving one more problem created momentum. Entrepreneurs often wait until they feel completely ready. In reality, confidence grows through experience. If you want to build confidence, start before you feel prepared. Progress creates belief.
Taking Calculated Risks Changed Everything
Betting on yourself does not mean making reckless decisions. It means being willing to invest your time, energy, and resources into something you truly believe in. Throughout my journey as a skeleton athlete and business owner, I have had to make difficult choices without knowing exactly how things would turn out.
I learned to gather information, weigh the risks, and move forward with purpose. Some decisions worked exactly as planned. Others taught valuable lessons. Both outcomes helped me grow. If you want to build confidence, remember that every calculated risk expands your abilities. Success is not about avoiding mistakes. It is about learning and adapting faster than fear can stop you.
Keep Moving When Support Is Limited
One of the hardest lessons entrepreneurs face is continuing when encouragement is scarce. There were times when people questioned my goals or did not understand my vision. During those moments, I relied on my purpose rather than outside validation.
I continue to build confidence by focusing on what I can control. I can control my effort, my attitude, and my commitment to helping others. Through Hope Of A Billion, my wife and I work to provide children in underserved communities around the world with the motivation, opportunities, and resources they need to pursue their dreams. Seeing young people discover their potential reminds me that believing in yourself can create opportunities that extend far beyond your own success.
If you want to build confidence, do not wait for universal approval. Trust your preparation, stay committed to your purpose, and keep moving forward. Sometimes the first person who needs to believe in your vision is you.

As an entrepreneur and skeleton athlete, I am passionate about helping people build confidence, overcome obstacles, and pursue goals that may seem out of reach. My journey as Ghana’s first skeleton athlete taught me that extraordinary achievements begin with belief, discipline, and action.
My wife and I also founded Hope Of A Billion to help children in underserved communities around the world discover their talents, strengthen their leadership potential, and access opportunities that can change their future. I am incredibly honored that our work was featured on the Olympics’ official Instagram page alongside inspiring icons such as Simone Biles, Usain Bolt, Magic Johnson, Billie Jean King, Carlos Alcaraz, and other global legends.
